Setting Up A New Business
Sep 15th, 2009 by WHS_staff

Setting up an enterprise can be exciting and rewarding. However, approximately 50% of new small businesses cease to exist within their initial 5 years. They fail to suceed as a result of a range of reasons, including low demand for products and services, poor location, and insufficient funding.

However, this can be avoided. As a result of thorough planning, a small business can flourish indefinitely. A variety of issues should be taken into consideration for this to happen. A few of which are, where will funding come from? Is the business plan robust? Is the product or service marketable?

One of the biggest challenges to overcome is finding sources of funding to get yourself off to a good start. Of the financing options available, you may want to fund the new business with financial assistance from business partners, family or friends. If that isn’t possible, you may require a small business loan. Each of these must be looked into and valued to determine which is the most viable and economical.

If you can overcome the issue of funding you then need to analyse yourself. Thriving entrepreneurs are creative problem-solvers. They relish overcoming problems on a day to day basis and are questioning and positive. In other words, do you have what it takes to start and manage a business? You should sit down and consider the following:

Are you highly motivated? Do you have a positive attitude and a strong drive for success? Are you emotionally balanced enough to run a business? Can you devote yourself to the business full-time? Do you have what it takes to be a leader? Are you adept at planning and organizing? Do you make decisions quickly and efficiently?

If the answers to any of these questions are not what they should be, consider opting for franchise ownership rather than starting your own small business. A franchise is a business model where some essentials of the business (such as marketing and customer vase) have already been established.
